Willow framed

Image
It is my joy to see another framed picture. This one is of the puppy, Willow, drawn with charcoal and soft pastel. It is so much better to see them framed than just sitting in a pastel pad.  I hope it will look good in its new home.

Framed

It is always a joy to frame a picture. It brings the pastel into more focus somehow. It is even more incredible still to give it to someone, knowing they will value it and it will be on display in a completely unknown environment that will bring it even more to life. I like using clip frames as it means all the attention and focus is on the dog. What I love about this pastel is Pippin seems to almost look out from the picture inquisitively; it’s  as if you could almost pat her head.

Beautiful Pippin.

When I saw a photo of this sweet shiny-nosed, bright-eyed dog, I felt I had to draw her. She is so pretty, with incredible velvety ears and obviously so well-loved. I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to draw her.  It is always a challenge to capture the sweet nature of each dog. I chose black pastel paper with an initial white pastel pencil outline. I spent a lot of time drawing the eyes and nose and coloured them in first as I felt they were essential to get right in order to illuminate her loveliness

Delighted

I drew this pastel of the wonderful, happy Arto and am so delighted to see it framed and know that this sweet and precious dog has been rescued and will now have the happiest life. There is something lovely when a dog looks at you and you look at a dog and you see each other. I have not met these dogs in person but feel there is so much to be discovered when you look in their eyes and see their beauty, even in a photo. It is a joy to me to try and express this through pastel. https://pennypawsrescue.org.uk/2023/02/20/gorgeous-arto/
