Art cards



 How wonderful to have my art transformed by printing as cards. So lovely to receive them in the post and brighten a dull day.  Not too easy to capture the tight light in a dark cottage on a dull weather day. I am delighted how the one finger computer drawings have turned out too, great gifts to give to people.

Difficulties in drawing

  There are quite a few hurdles I need to overcome in order to draw a pastel. Hand to eye coordination is mostly tricky, difgicult or not posdible. My hands and fingers are always numb to varying degrees. They slso burn with pain and throb frequently. My eyes are blurry and it is hard to focus. Several times a day or all day I can be paralysed partially or totally, near paralysed, or too weak to move. My mind is blanked by each paralysis and I cannot necessarily see or understand or receive and edpress information. And then there is the head pain, switching sides, left, right, top, back of head, neck, limbs all throbbing in unison. It is quite miraculous that I can ever  draw at all. Then there are literally brief moments in a month when I can see a bit more clearly, I might hold a pastel and look at a picture and try to draw it. I have to be very quick. Any sound or movement or surprise can knock me back into blankness and paralysis once more and the rest of the day is stolen...

Chico, amazing ears!

I have struggled with bad daily paralysis all month and yet longed to get some aspect of  the sweetness of this lovely dog who is sad and needing a new home.  My fingers work very little of  the time, are extremely weak and numb yet hurt at the same time and are periodically, daily, paralysed.  It is my joy to try and draw a dog in moments when my mind, fine control of my hands and my coordination come together. It is not frequent enough and so unpredictable and erratic. Chico is a PennyPaws Romanian rescue dog and hoping he can find the right people to love him forever. New medium, sweet Arto

I have had a small tin of charcoal pencils for a while now and no energy or ability to try something new. Then, a few moments came together and I was able to do a very quick sketch in outline with a dark charcoal pencil on pastel paper. I found the sound scratchy and unpleasant, due to my acute noise sensitivity.  I did not like the white charcoal pencil as it seemed to have no depth of colour, after the thick white pastels I love to use so much, so I quickly found a couple of loose pastels close at hand and added in the depth I wanted.  I don’t think I can be a pure charcoal person, but I definitely found it delightful (apart from the sound) to use it to outline this sweet dog who is looking for a home here.
